A Day in the Life of a Tec Student

11:00AM: I start my days with a short bicycle ride to get to class. My house is on the far end of campus, and usually it would take me about 20 minutes to walk all the way across. A great hack is thus to use the Bicitec bikes that can be found all across campus and are free. You simply grab one and store it back in a bicycle rack when done. And yes, here in Mexico we all wear long pants, even if it’s about 28 degrees still 🙂

11:30AM: Finally I arrive to my first class: Latin American literature. The hallways in Tec are outdoors as it tends to be warm enough most of the year.

12:30PM: After finishing my first class I came across some of the deer on campus. We have many animals that run around free here; ducks, peacocks and deers. They are very tame and you can even pet them, although they sometimes can be very persistently annoying when you have some food with you.

1PM: Finally, time for my second class: Mexican politics.

2:30PM: My final class of the day, Mexican history, is on the 4th floor on the other side of campus. Perks of having hallways that are open are that you tend to have a beautiful view. Monterrey has some of the best mountain ranges for hiking in Mexico, which provides this awesome 360 view of the mountains (the city is right in between the different mountain ranges). However, the city is quite polluted (not crazy if you imagine it has 6 million inhabitants) and this is why in the distance you tend to see a hazy sort of layer of white.
